Kisan Call Center 

  • The Department of Agriculture Co-operation (DAC), Ministry of agriculture and Government of India has launched Kisan call center on January 21st, 2004 across the country to deliver knowledge and information exactly as per the requirements of the farming community.
  • It is a network of call centers which have been established to cover the entire country in all principal languages.
  • The farmers get expert advice through BSNL Toll-Free Number 1800-180-1551 from any part of the country
  • The service had been made available from 6 AM to 10PM expect on Sunday’s and Gusseted holidays beyond this calls are attended on voice recording mode.




Objectives of Kisan Call Center


  1. To establish a network of relationship among scientists, policymakers, extension workers, farmers, and other stakeholders.
  2. To provide an opportunity to the scholars and agricultural scientists to play a dynamic role in the transformation of Indian agriculture.
  3. To develop a database which compiles and collates the actual needs of farmers and to classify them in an intelligent format
  4. To harness the traditional knowledge systems available with the farming community and with the women farmers to enrich the body of knowledge in agriculture-related fields.
